Parish Church of St. Lawrence

In 1781, the town of Brežice was struck by heavy floods. The Sava River destroyed the cemetery and foundations of the old parish church, which stood almost opposite the present church, built one year after the floods. The church catches your eye with its picturesque façade adorned with pilasters, niches, and a rosette above which rises the bell tower. Its interior also has a special value and includes the altars with the paintings of St. Florian and St. Nicolas and a painted presbytery made in 1966 by the excellent Slovenian artist Stane Kregar (1905–1973).
