The castle stands on the hill above Bizeljska vas. It is first mentioned in 1404 and it has had an important role of as a defence post. Its strategic position has drawn interest of numerous aristocratic families. The castle, medieval in its structure, now has renaissance and baroque characteristics. Rectangular arcade courtyard is surrounded by 4 two-storey wings and the west side has two slim round towers with cone-like roof in the corners. You can also see St. Hieronim’s chapel from 1623 and rooms with remnants of stuccos from late 18th century and decorative paintings.
Wine cellar Klakočar is arranged in one part of the castle. The family is known for its top-quality predicate wines and wine specialties. By previous arrangement, they will arrange wine tasting of their wines, something homemade to eat, and they will invite you to the tour of the castle, wineries and other sites in the vicinity.
