On May 23, 2018, in the Sevnica Castle, Gardner’s villa basement, a news conference about the wine type Modra frankinja took place. The conversation about it moved to the Castle vineyard where a grapevine of Modra frankinja grows on a slope with a fine view of the Sava valley.
The wine project is a part of the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development that is being managed with outer partners and the Regional development agency Posavje, the head of the project. It is projected to end in 2020, in the meantime, a lot of interesting and practical workshops, wine–culinary events and other scientific meetings will occur in Posavje.
Modra frankinja has many noble characteristics and for we know these are powerful, were recognized to be one of the correct directions for development and marketing. Because the wine combines perfectly with the food and especially with certain dishes, it provides an outstanding culinary experience. We are proud to mention these specialties of the area: wine of Bela frankinja, a cake of Modra frankinja and tasteful praline Modra frankinja.
Additionally, Public Institute for Entrepreneurship, Tourism and Youth Brežice is going to actively participate in the project with eight workshops about wine production, wine care, way to serve wine, and wine know-how. All workshops are going to be dedicated to Modra frankinja for all who work in the culinary and tourism. A special culinary workshop about the possibilities of wine Modra frankinja will also be prepared.
To proof that the wine is gaining quality as it belongs, several events promoting the wine happen every year. So the eighth Festival of Modra frankinja happens on Thursday, June 7, 2018, in the Sevnica Castle.
Let Modra frankinja become the known Slovenian culinary–gastronomic product of Posavje, and let the region be recognized as one of the European centers of Modra frankinja.
