The northern town gate from the 16th century was designed as a one-storey stone tower with a trapezoid layout that stretched to the moat.

The tower had a basement on the northern side, presumably because of the drawbridge mechanism that connected the northern town gate and the wooden bridge over the moat. The ground plan of the walls and the tower is shown on the pavement.
