Then the road leads to the National Hall, the Church of St. Lawrence and the House of the Del Cott family. In the very centre of the town, there is the Brežice Town Hall
with a small authentic shop where you can buy various local products and souvenirs. There is also a winery where you can taste many high-quality wines by the local winegrowers.
Continue past the northern city gate, which in the 16th century allowed the entrance to the walled medieval city. From here you have a view of the colorful main street, and in the background the view can reach all the way to the church of St. Vitus on Šentvid. Throughout the walk, you are accompanied by the famous symbol of Brežice, the unique Water Tower from 1914, which with its 46 metres forms the city panorama.
Finish the walk with a visit to the mighty Brežice Castle, where the Posavje Museum Brežice
is located, and the unique baroque Knight`s Hall gives it unique charm. The path from the castle ends at the river embankment. Here the old iron bridge stretches over the rivers Sava and Krka.
There are also many information boards describing all the city's attractions along the way.
The project ‘Architectural Sketches of the Brežice Old Town Centre’ was designed as part of the efforts to revive the old town centre. Its role is to bring the abandoned display windows back to life by temporarily displaying artwork by local artists. Therefore, by taking a walk through the town, you can also see the street gallery. This way, the architect and artist Vesna Lapuh provided a window to the creativity of our ancestors and a possibility of how to shape our future.
